The company relied on the MedicineOne application but had unmet requirements needing integration into a new IT solution. The existing infrastructure was outdated and insecure, with slow, unreliable backup capacity and unstandardized, aging work equipment, limiting productivity and scalability for future expansion, such as a new clinic in Porto.

Situation

The childcare company was relying on the MedicineOne application to support its daily operations. However, additional requirements arose that MedicineOne could not fulfill, necessitating the integration of new functionalities within a revamped IT solution.

 

To address these needs, Linkcom implemented a modern and scalable infrastructure designed to complement the existing systems while laying the groundwork for future expansion to new locations, such as Porto.

The solution involved deploying a local server to serve as a central repository, providing essential services including file sharing, backup management, and secure authentication synchronized with Azure Active Directory and Microsoft 365.

 

Security was significantly enhanced through the integration of a SonicWall firewall, ensuring robust protection against cyber threats. WiFi connectivity was optimized by deploying Ruckus R350 access points, delivering reliable and high-performance wireless coverage.

Additionally, the project included upgrading both fixed and mobile workstations, as well as deploying comprehensive backup software to safeguard all physical and virtual assets. These improvements collectively ensured operational efficiency, strengthened cybersecurity, and provided scalability to support the company’s ongoing growth and evolving IT requirements.

Linkcom delivered a comprehensive “Equipment and Services” package designed to standardize and secure the client’s IT infrastructure while supporting future scalability.

 

Central to this solution was the deployment of a local on-premises server, which served as a repository for critical services, ensuring centralized management and accessibility.

File services were consolidated to enhance collaboration among users and to safeguard important data. To ensure data protection and business continuity, automated and robust backup solutions were implemented, covering both physical servers and virtual machines. The integration with Microsoft 365’s Azure Active Directory provided secure, centralized, and unified user management across the infrastructure.

Network security was significantly strengthened through the deployment of a SonicWall firewall, protecting both internal and external communications from potential cyber threats. Wireless connectivity was optimized using Ruckus R350 access points, delivering reliable and high-speed WiFi coverage throughout the facility.

To further enhance the client’s IT environment, modern workstations—including desktop PCs, laptops, monitors, phones, and TVs—were supplied, standardizing and upgrading the overall work experience. Additionally, backup software was deployed to guarantee the integrity, availability, and recoverability of all IT assets, ensuring ongoing operational resilience.

Outcome

The solution delivered both immediate and strategic benefits to the client. Infrastructure security was significantly enhanced, providing stronger protection for data and communications across the entire environment.

 

Backup processes were improved to become faster, more reliable, and supported by increased storage capacity, thereby minimizing the risk of data loss.

The modernization and expansion of workstations effectively supported the company’s growing team, contributing to a noticeable boost in overall productivity. Furthermore, the infrastructure was designed with scalability in mind, fully prepared to support the upcoming Porto clinic as well as any future expansions required by the client.

In addition to the technical upgrades, the client also acquired a managed services package, which includes a dedicated block of hours for ongoing IT management and maintenance. This arrangement ensures continuous support and proactive system upkeep, helping to maintain operational stability and address issues promptly over the long term.
